Riots in Sweden: Malmö is burning
Rosengården, a district of the Swedish city of Malmö, is well known for its social problems (and the former home of Zlatan Ibrahimovic)
Protests spilled over into violence on Wednesday after the owner of a building in Rosengard housing an Islamic cultural centre and a mosque chose to use the space for other purposes. Centre workers moved out peacefully and handed over the keys, but a group of youths decided to camp in the basement. Police officers were told to remove them, sparking protests and violent clashes all over Rosengården. The situation got worse when rioters seem to have received help for various autonomous left wing groups.

So far there have been five arrests, and the riots seem to calm down this evening.
Sweden has seen this types of riots before in city sections dominated by immigrants. It is a dangerous cocktail of extreme political opinions, in combination with alienation and a society that is closed in many respects that Sweden needs to solve.

oh no!..should be like a virous that spread across Europe
Does n't it seem ironic that situation in Sweden and Greece suddenly got quite similar, doesn't it?
There are differences, particularly in the scale of the riots, but also similarities. I think that the mosque and the student were just sparks. Certainly sparks fanned into fire by certain elements, that I don't see as friends of democracy. The violence in Rosengård must stop.
But there are similarities between the various European nations today, and so many of the solutions are to be found in our common European grounds.
In my point of view every "old" European society is near sweeping changes. I share your opinion that both the student and the mosque were sparks but better to say both were under colour of disturbance. So I can accept the opinions, the aims, but this is not the best way to express it.
E.g. I don't know after Athens why the people set other cities in a blaze. And yea aught why to burn down the city! Solidarity? I don't think so...
Well, we already have this "virus" in Budapest, just remember the rioting in Sept 2006 while the crowd attacked the national television's hall (and steal some chocolate and puppets) since then they vandalize all our national feasts :(
